Doodles - 1990 Margaret and pals by Alias-Hugo Doodles - 1990 Margaret and pals by Alias-Hugo
I started drawing some more of late 80s/early 90s Margaret - here she is in her 'going-out' clothes for the human world (Marie says Margaret gave her the clothes she's wearing so presumably they were once Margaret's meaning she may have gone through a rock-chick phase) and I made up a few assorted faces she would meet in a human bar.

Fans of Shin Megami Tensei will be able to recognise Yuriko as she's basically unchanged from her 80's-tastic appearance in SMT (but with a snazzy pastel suit ohyes). The girl in blue is her BFF Louisa, an upbeat and friendly girl who shows Margaret around.

The guy marked ??? is the Time Count who I don't remember ever having a proper name besides 'Time Count' (at least this specific incarnation didn't have a name). He seems to be aware Margaret isn't human but nonetheless takes a shine to her. Louisa and Time Count don't quite see eye-to-eye, but are currently best described as frenemies. They seem to mix in the same circles a lot.

I really just wanted to play around with designs and give everything a late 80s twist! I love kitting out characters in time-specific clothing to suit their personalities!

I guess the only thing I can say to this one is:

I saw your eyes

And you made me smile
For a little while
I was falling in love

I saw your eyes
And you touched my mind
Although it took a while
I was falling in love

I was falling in love

I saw your eyes
And you made me cry
And for a little while
I was falling in love

Well it's quite apt considering what the song is about even if Margaret isn't an alien persay

I had waaaay too much fun designing these - I loved playing around with keeping the outfits something the characters would wear while adding a time-period/event-specific twist. I loved Yuriko's design too much to really mess with it that much! images2.wikia.nocookie.net/__c… her hair is so great! I did take some pieces from her demon form as Lilith images1.wikia.nocookie.net/__c…

Louisa is sort of based on Louisa from SMT Strange Journey images4.fanpop.com/image/photo… but she's not exactly the same person (though several characters with her general theme pop up throughout SMT) so I played around with her design more

Time Count just needed an 80s-tastic white suit

I also just had fun drawing Rock Chick Margaret as she's usually so prim looking.

well, Yuriko already looks pretty 80s in her original designs

yes, I see you changed quite allo in that one
alto to be fair, the original design seems kinda generic

Time Count look the most normal of the bunch too
as in, he could go out in that outfit today , and nobody would give him strange looks

and I do like her Cindy Lauper look

I just loved her design too much to change it that much!

Louisa and her various counterparts are just sort of regular, setting-appropriate people who kind of show up in the background and give the protagonist useful information at various points. Sometimes they're almost too ordinary looking for the setting. I think Strange Journey was on a boat full of soliders so Louisa was unusual just by virtue of being a civilian lady (that and having a foreign name and appearance compared to the main cast). Her counterpart in Raidou Kuzunoha subseries which is set in the 20s: images4.wikia.nocookie.net/__c…
(Blond young man). Just looks like a regular guy, albeit not a Japanese native.

I kind of wanted Time Count to look normal, since he's meant to just look like some slightly unusual-looking mad with a vaguely unsettling quality no one can quite put their finger on.

I see

well, she does look quite exceptional in you'r version tho

if she's mean to be generic, you should have gone for the "Full House" look

She's always pretty stylish for the setting, at least in comparison to other characters.
Since the Persona universe is quite fashion-forward I wanted to step it up a notch! :D I mean if she was hanging out with Yuriko she had to look suitably cool.
The SMT (main series) character designs have an art-style where nearly everyone has weirdly generic, expressionless faces which can make them look a bit blank. The series has some great designs but the faces are a bit uncanny valley at times! (The artist seems to shine drawing demons and monsters)

SMTIV got a bit better about it  -here's a semi-important NPC from it: images4.wikia.nocookie.net/__c…
